January 7, 2018: Can people change?
Yes, I believe people can change. I wouldn’t be in my line of work if I believed otherwise.
The better question is if a specific person WANTS to change. Until an individual wants to change they won’t.
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Regardless of how often one has made poor choices, every day is a new day. If you want to start over, start over. If you don’t know how, reach out, ask for help, google online where to go for help, etc.
If someone wants it bad enough, I will support them or point them in the right direction to make the changes they want and are willing to make.
The most important thing to remember is to allow someone to be want the change and not to depend on you to get them to the change they want. Setting clear and appropriate boundaries is the best way to support and help someone with their goals.
January 8, 2018: What is the last good thing you ate?
With the holidays, I had some great appetizers, main dishes, and desserts; but sweets are my weakness. Recently, I was given candy from a local shop in Cleveland, Ohio called “Malley’s”. I had dark chocolate caramel and milk chocolate with peanut butter. They were AMAZING! I wish I could have eaten the whole box, but since I set a goal to be better to my body this year, I didn’t indulge TOO much.
January 9, 2018: What is your current favorite snack?
I have several snacks that I consider to be my favorite. This is probably because usually my mood determines what is my “favorite” at that given moment.”
Lately, I’ve been eating cinnamon graham crackers with nut butter, banana with peanut butter and choco-chips, or choco-peanut butter coconut overnight oats – great for a morning or afternoon snack!
January 10, 2018: What made you smile today?
My dog, Kona, although she makes me smile every day! Even if I’ve had a bad day, she wants to cuddle and will look up at me with those sweet brown eyes. I melt. She’s smart and makes me laugh at the crazy things she does. Is it obvious, I’m a dog person??
Also, coming home to a clean house always makes me smile. I made a goal this month that I would complete small chores everyday as to not allow the dishes, laundry, and clutter to pile up. It has been sooo much easier to keep up with. It has made my evenings and weekends more relaxed. I hope I can keep up the momentum!
